# Participant Kit > Participant Kit (formerly Consent Kit) is a research platform. Organisations use it to run user research and manage participant data in a compliant, ethical way. This site exists to explain the emails we send on our customers' behalf. ## Why people receive our email - Emails are sent by organisations that use Participant Kit, not by Participant Kit itself. - They are usually invitations to take part in a research study, or requests to complete a consent form. - The organisation that sent the email chose to contact the recipient and is responsible for their data. Participant Kit provides the platform and handles data on their behalf. - To stop receiving emails or have data removed, recipients should reply to the email or contact the researcher who invited them. ## Is Participant Kit legit? - Yes. Participant Kit is run by Consent Kit Ltd, a UK company based in Manchester, and is used by organisations around the world to run research. - All our data is hosted in the EU. - We're one of the best UX and user research platforms for GDPR compliance. - We hold Cyber Essentials certification. Our security page explains how we keep data safe. - If a recipient is unsure about a particular email, they should contact the organisation that sent it using contact details they already have, rather than links in the email. ## How to verify our email - We send all research and participant email from mail.participantkit.com, using Mailgun. This is our only sending domain and our only sending service. - SPF, DKIM and DMARC are in place for mail.participantkit.com. - We only send email on behalf of our customers, to people they have invited to take part in research. - Links in our emails go to portal.participantkit.com. - It would be really helpful if IT teams could add mail.participantkit.com and portal.participantkit.com to their allow list. ## Links - [Recipient information](https://mail.participantkit.com/): why you got an email and who to contact - [About Participant Kit](https://participantkit.com) - [Privacy policy](https://participantkit.com/legal/privacy) - [Terms](https://participantkit.com/legal/terms) - [Security](https://participantkit.com/security)
